I have a few tripods but this one is hands down the best value yet! Stronger than I expected. Great appearance. Particularly the removal leg as a monopod making travelling with this easy for shooting wildlife.

PROS: This tripod is light yet when you hold it you can tell it is solid. Everything tightens securely which makes the tripod stable for its weight. I am not sure if it is mentioned anywhere, but there is a hook at the bottom of the center column which allows you to hang extra weight for extra stability.

CONS: It's not really a con, but if shooting with a long telephoto lens you will want to use mirror lock-up as this tripod doesn't really dampen the vibration caused by the mirror moving into place. Also not really a con, but I am using a 7D and when I have a Canon 100-400mm L lens mounted (using the tripod mount on the camera, not the lens) I find that I need to aim a little high before I tighten the ball head as the lens creeps down just a little after I let go. Obviously this is much less of an issue when using the tripod mount on the lens (but I am lazy).

I would also add that the shipping speed was excellent. I had my order exactly a week after placing it (shipped to NY).

You always fear that when you do this, you will be disppointed. That is NOT the case with this tripod. The quality is evident when I used it in a recent trip to México. The four section legs fit perfectly on the outside straps on my Naneu backpack.

I was looking to upgrade from a cheap knock-off 50$ tripod to something I could carry without too many sacrifices. rnrnI looked at Vanguard because I like to do Macro as well as landscape. While this does not have the Multi angle column the Alta pro series does, this came in substantially cheaper and was Carbon Fiber instead of Aluminum (yeah, the Vanguard also comes in CF but was out of my budget). It also comes, as is somewhat awkwardly stated in the description, with a short center column replacement, which is pretty handy for Macro work. The legs can be reversed for very low angle macros. rnrnI was expecting a somewhat shady quality but in fact, it is quite comparable to other CF tripods I shopped for in the past months. Only this is much cheaper. The twist mechanism is fairly good and the finish of the carbon legs is perfect. rnrnThe short center column can be added to the detachable leg to increase the height of the monopod. Quite handy as it is a bit smallish for me. rnrnThe ball head is, well, better than expected again. Its operation is smooth, and the adjustments precise. It holds my Sigma 70-200 2.8 without any problem. There is a bit of drop movement at low angles when I'm not using my tripod collar, but then again, that is to be expected, this is what the collar is for! rnrnSliding each leg is smooth. rnrnIt does not have a bubble level but to me that is not a big issue. rnrnThe total height is more than adequate for my needs and it folds into a diminutive shape. Granted the storage is a bit longer since you have to fold the legs backwards to fit it in the supplied bag, it is much smaller than other tripods in my budget range. rnrnThe supplied bag is well made and looks like it will stand up to a moderate beating. rnrnAll-in-all, I like this tripod very much. rnrnHope this helps.
