This Lens Hood, like all other Lens hoods, is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. It opens as needed to prevent lens flare problems. It comes with an adjustment ring to ensure proper mounting orientation of the hood on your camera.
It is a universal lens hood which fits for any 52mm filter size lens, also it can be used with a filter and a snap-on lens cap while many lens hood didn't have such function (as the picture above shows).
Note: But a tiny flaw maybe existed for some specific lens. The lens hood might block off parts of light source and form a slight dark angle in the periphery of picture when using wide-angle side. Beware of THIS!!
If anything, you spend a couple bucks to help protect your lens and make your camera look just a little more professional.
Oh come on Zamanakhan. What do you want for seven bucks? You can see in the illustration this thing is a screw mount. Do what I do when I fit it - don't do it up tight. There's plenty of thread, so just turn it to the position you need. Sheesh!
what i see from the picture was not what i get. it doesnt have the same feature like the above picture, but its still can be used. this is the second time i get the things different from the picture.
I'd pass on this one, its a screw on. makes it impossible to use with filters, alot of vignetting if used with filters and some even if not used with filters its good for lenses where the focus ring does not turn as it focuses. Unfortunately mine does thus its not such a great product if it was snap or went around the lens and had threads for filters it would be a great product :)rnrn
