This remote is very small. Overall length is about the length of a credit card, not as wide and a little thicker. Easy to hide in your hand while shooting. Worked right out of the box with the included battery. rnRange is about 15 feet with my Canon T1i. (of course it only works from infront of the camera as the infared sensor is just left of the lens when looking at the camera. rnrnYou must set the camera to "self timer/Remote Control mode" for this remote to operate. Both instant and 2 second buttons work with this remote, other buttons do nothing. The 2 second button will cause the timer/red eye reduction light on the front of the camera to blink before shooting. rnrnI also noticed that if the display on the camera turns off, you can not wake the camera back up by pressing a button on the remote, you have to press the shutter button on the camera to wake it up, then continue shooting using the remote. Not a big deal as it only works from 15 feet, so the camera will be close. rnrnAs a side note, it is possible to program a learning remote control as the codes are standard. Other remotes did not seem to lengthen the operational range for me. All testing was done inside, not sure how this remote would work in daylight or sunshine.
