The principle of high speed camera is: You get into a room completely black, one takes a photo in several seconds. An event triggers a flash less powerful. So the only thing you see in the picture is the image formed by the flash. The duration of the flash being particularly short, you can freeze any movement.

The equipment needed here is that you have with you: - A camera capable of manual focus and a long exposure - A flash report with adjustable power - A small tripod and a flashlight are highly recommended - A pot, scotch, spoons, electric wire, water, milk, yoghurt, fruit ... - Already dirty clothes. They will open after splash.
Prepare yourself psychologically to send water splashing on the camera or flash. I am not responsible for what you do! In my case, a few drops of water or milk were not damaged my hardware.
The secret is to trigger a flash can manually connect two contacts of the hoof. Here the fruit drop in the spoon pressed the spoon that affects two electric son. It triggers the flash.
Preparation: Strip the two electrical and son stuck them in the shoe of the flash as the pictures.

At the other end, the first wire is glued on the tip of the spoon. The other is on the pot, under the spoon, but not touching.

As the spoon is not flat but slightly domed, it does not touch the second wire. That's because the tape is slightly elastic it will stretch under the weight of the fruit and return the form immediately after.
Once you finished editing, do a test by hand. By pressing one you may be able to trigger the flash, releasing the spoon back and contact is cut.
If it is too hard to support, the result will not trigger the flash. If it's too easy, the flash will fire several times.
The device is placed on its tripod. At home I did zoom way in to it is not too close to the spoon. The flash is positioned on the side and will be directed directly to the spoon. I put everything in my bathtub, which gives me a white relatively uniform.

Once you're ready, set the power of your flash: - Set your camera on M (manual), with the maximum aperture, exposure time to 4 seconds and an ISO 100. Take pictures in RAW if possible. - Turn off the lights, press the shutter of the camera. - You have 4 seconds to press a button once the test flash.
For me, good power is 1 / 64. Do not increase too much power because the lightning flash product will be too long (in time). It may be worth more then mount ISO in a small can.
The process for taking the picture: - To focus on the front of the spoon. This is important because that is where will the foreground: the drops of water. The fruit, it will therefore be less clear. - Put water or other liquid in the spoon. Check that there have not drop the back of the spoon - Keep one hand on the fruit at least 50 cm in height, the other off the light. - Press the shutter button. - Now you have four seconds to drop the fruit.
The fruit will then sink into the spoon and start planning the liquid, or until its weight will be sufficient to trigger the flash.
It will take many tries, as for AC battery falls in the middle of the spoon and AC makes a beautiful splash, there is still a large element of luck ...

To go further, mix the liquids. For example put water in the spoon, then a drop of yogurt in the middle.

To get the black background, I used a metal plate set for my oven, backed by a bottle. Of course it's not come out black in the image (but may gray). So in Photoshop I did a shot of curves, a selection by color range and replaced by a dark gray pure black. If you have fear of anything, mix it with drops of ink. In post processing I used scripts to enhance detail and contrast because it gives more fishing photos.
Hopefully this tutorial will give you the desire to try

Thank you all for your feedback. Some had very interesting ideas and enrich the subject. Thank you k-tone almost finished developing an electronic detector. Thank you to Eddy78 meccanos who plays and shows its implementation (by claiming that his son is meccanos) It happens on page 5 of this issue:
